I have a hard drive with HD ATSC (.ts) files that I want to serve to a Popcorn Hour A-100 (with the 30-second advance and reverse intact).

I currently use an XP machine but would like to be able to serve the files without leaving the loud, heat-producing desktop running all the time.

I don't need to do any transcoding or any CPU-intensive progressing. By the time the files are on the hard drive they are ready to view.

Any thoughts on how to serve the files over an ethernet network from a USB2 drive on the SheevaPlug?

I've installed this software following this guide in sheevaplug, even the guide says the steps are for ubuntu 7.04 it woked fine with Jaunty serving media to my Pinnacle Showcenter 200.

Maybe a stupd question but, if you want to use it to serve files to a popcournhour, why not simply export a nfs-share?
The popcornhour can use nfs without any problems.
