Interesting. My new Patriot 8G SDHC card showed up today, and no matter what, the plug can't format it. It can write the partition table just fine, but when formatting, it gets quickly through about  a third of the card and then starts crawling until it's not moving at all (perceivably, anyway).

Same card, mounted in a SUSE VMWare box (of all things!) formats very fast and completely.

The card then mounts and is usable on the plug.

Bizarre! I'm now using the card as my rootfs for the plug, but I wonder if I'll run into any glitches. Certainly seems like the SDIO implementation isn't really compatible.

On the other hand, how cool, I have my rootfs on SD!
