Has anyone load tested any web server on the Sheeva? Testing static content fine - even on same LAN Smiley

Looking for Apache Benchmark numbers from a Sheeva plug running any web server.

Anyone have numbers or care to run a test?

Hi,

I'm running Tomcat 6 running a reasonably heavyweight Java app, and it gets about half the throughput per CPU GHz as other highly-tuned x86 boxes I use.

Here's my app at its test URL, somewhat slow, though given that this same app runs on a 24-thread box and other fairly meaty boxes elsewhere, and this is about half the memory and half the CPU power I've ever previously run it on, and all on 2.5W, I'm quite happy with it for now.  Be gentle with it please!

I hope to be getting some static pages running under Apache2 in the next day or so, and you can give them a whirl if you like.

Rgds

I still trying to get a plug to try the very same thing.  I'd really like any follow up info.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

CPU performance is just fine, and I can't see an problem at all with the static Apache2 server (try http://www.earth.org.uk/ for example).  I'm continuing to tweak my big Java app to behave better with the constrained memory!

Rgds

i'm running lighttpd with very acceptable response times.  haven't done any official benchmarking, but did notice that lighttpd was about half as heavy on system resources as apache.

Tomcat is the reference implementation of a Java Web Server.  The performance may have improved since earlier days, but it was slow from the beginning.  I have not tried Resin (from caucho.com) on the Plug yet, but that would be my first try.
