rootfs question

Hi,

I have been using my plug for a few days now and have successfully updated to ver1, updated ubuntu and am running the plug as a LAMP server and it is connected to an external ntfs hard drive.  So all in all I'm happy.

However, I have read about moving the rootfs to an sd card or even an external harddrive, and have a few questions:

1) Why would you want to do this? 
2) What benefits can be gained from doing this? 
3) Are there any disadvantages to doing this?

To get a larger file system.

You won't wear out the (non-replaceable) NAND. An SD card is replaceable if it wears out.

You have to pay for an SD card.
