USB port not working at all (solved)

Hi.
The USB port of my sheevaplug doesn't recognize any USB devices (both flash and spinning drives). I tried the original U-Boot from the CD and compiled U-Boot from Marvells git and the git of the U-Boot developers and installed these. I setup rootdelay=10. Executed "usb start". Plugged in the USB device upon boot. Used different USB-IDE adapters and USB flash drives. But, nothing is working. I want to install Gentoo Linux on the external spinning USB hard drive using the official tutorial.

Have you tried to use the Alpha6 installer to get past this issue?

I used the alpha6 installer. But, it doesn't help.

I don't understand:  If you succeeded in applying the Alpha-6 updates, it would imply to me that you were successful at using a USB thumb drive to install the new Linux kernel and rootfs on the internal NAND.

Did this succeed or not?

I succeded in using the alpha6 installer to flash u-boot on the nand with the usb thumb drive. But, the bad magic error shows up.

In a viable scenario, you'd see "scanning bus for storage devices... 1 Storage Device(s) found".  Unfortunately, if you have never seen this, and have never been able to access a USB device, I'd say it's time to open up your Plug and look for a hardware problem.  Or call tech support.

Finally . I used a USB hub and plugged the USB stick in when the countdown was at 1 and my sheevaplug found it.
