I had read a while back in this forum, that (with the original kernel that came with the ShPlug ?)  if the hostname is modified from ubunto to anything else, come upgrade (uboot?, kernel?) may fail.  It might have been also a normal software superstition Smiley

Does anybody see any potential problems with the alpha-rc6 kernel for future upgrades, if I change my hostname?

FWIW, I've changed my hostname.

The original hostname of all SheevaPlugs starts out as "debian" (even thought I think it used the Ubuntu repositories).  After installing alpha-6, the hostname became "ubuntu".

It doesn't matter as far as "apt-get upgrade" or installing a more recent kernel.  Of course, if you ever re-run the alpha-6 installer, you'll a fresh alpha-6 load, which includes its original hostname.
