If you are buying from Globalscale and getting it sent by Fedex to Europe. YOU WILL be stung for additional EU import duties. A nice letter will arrive 10 days or so after delivery...
My $99 plug has an addition cost of £15.91 (£9.11 VAT and £6.80 Fedex Admin fee).
I was hoping the dev kits would be classed as engineering samples, and thus VAT-exempt, but clearly not... Make sure you budget for this additional cost.. I think Globalscale should warn purchasers buying to EU that this will happen....

I get sick of posts like this!
You can blame Globalscale for a lot of things, but they have no control over custom duties. The general rule is if you are buying something from another country always be prepared that "greedy Gov workers" in your country are after your money. This is a fact of like. GET REAL!!!!

@knicket you get it wrong. Nobody is complaining about globalscale, it's just a warning for people that they might need to pay more then they thought. I knew that it is possible that i might have to pay import fees. I thought i was lucky, but bureaucracy was simply a bit slow |

According to fedex mine is in state "Shipment information sent to FedEx" from 17 Aug., It is in Portugal. Until now I didn't receive nothing at all, or any reply of globalscale since 1 week!  |

Today i received an update from global that my sheeva is shipped yesterday. According fedex it should arrive in thenetherlands tomorrow, so quite fast shipping.

Hi,
Fedex charged me £6.80 charge and £9.00 vat @15% total extra £15.80
This makes the total UK cost of my Plug to be £88.80 cost plus shipping (paying by Paypal) + £15.80 = £104.60 Ouch!
BY THE WAY
My FedEx invoice arrived 19th Sept 5 days after Plug was delivered
There is a note on it that the charges are being "revamped", for details to look on their website. When I look I find that the advance payment charge from 15th Oct will be 2.5% of value OR £10 minimum, so the £6.80 fee will be £10 from then! Somebody is making FedEx recession proof!

I was abroad, and I now returned to find out from Fedex that the package after 5 days in Customs was sent back to US again, more than 3 weeks ago, because of lack of data to customs contact me (like phone, and it seems address was also incomplete in Fedex tracking site, although in their GS form is OK). And what is worst is that Globalscale didn't bother to contact me about this small detail! They still have my money! If they don't answer until next week, about sending or refunding, I will complain to my bank, thus is the only thing i can do  ((( |
