3.1.5 new kernel available

3.1.5 is now available.

I can't test this kernel locally until I get a replacement power supply for my sheevaplug.
I should be getting the replacement power supply this week.

For everything besides Dreamplugs:
sudo ./README-PLUG-UPDATE.sh 3.1.5--nandkernel (installs to nand)
or:
sudo ./README-PLUG-UPDATE.sh 3.1.5 --rootkernel (installs to /boot)

For Dreamplugs:
sudo ./README-DREAM-UPDATE.sh 3.1.5 (installs to /boot)

Kernel and modules are available from the following locations:

Features systemd, e-sata, dmcrypt, IPV6, CIFS, NFS4, EXT3, EXT4, JFS, XFS, FUSE(for ntfs-3g), UBIFS, usb-serial, uvcvideo, iptables, appletalk, bluetooth, v4l and ppp.

The kernel source is here, for those of you who need to compile custom modules.  The availability will be limited by my 2 Gig dropbox account limit, but I will keep the most recent versions available.

I have placed a Dreamplug kernel at http://www.spinifex.com.au/plugs/downloads/dreamplug/kernel/.

This 3.1.5 kernel is for the Dreamplug only. I have done some testing on this and it checks out so far.

Included in this kernel build are a number of patches (available at the same location).

The patches include:

leds are now named "dreamplug" rather than "guruplug"

cpu frequency scaling - you can either manually or automatically change the cpu clock speed, this works!
(this patch supposedly also works on a Sheevaplug)

SPI flash support - the u-Boot environment can be displayed/updated from Debian (requires package u-boot-tools)

I would appreciate comments on the patches and any testing.

Very nicely,  would be interesting to see how much cooler Dream and Sheeva run if anyone has a Temp sensor attached to a plug.

I have a temperature sensor call a "hand". The results from this on dreamplug says "cooler".

my "hand" is not accurate enough to comment but I have tested power consumption and there is no difference on my power meter.

I finally got my replacement power supply for the sheevaplug.  It does look "new n improved" from the original.  It has a couple of IC's that the original didn't have, and looks in general as if they spent more money on it.  So for those of you wondering if the replacement power supplies are better I'd say yes.

No, I'm American.  American phrases are borrowed from all over.

Fascinating. Wonder if it was copied in the times of "New Amsterdam" or if we (dutch persons) copied it from the "British" in the end.

Nevertheless, 3.1.5 is on the list, hope I can test it tonight for you (busy week, something to do with Christmas)

LOL "Great minds think alike, fools seldom differ" (me [giving away my nationality: a little more south and east than you ] stumbled over the same phrase a few days, ago.

However: while looking it up I came to the surprising finding - yes it's really used that way.

Haha, you as well. It sounded always so typical Dutch to me that it never occurred to me EVER that it could be translated to other languages.


Saw also another reply in previous post that it occurred in the bible, might be the true origin in the end ( http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/155500.html ) ... bleh ^_^
