My Guruplug basic loses eth0 whenever we experience a nearby lightning strike.  Is there a way to 1) detect that etho just went off-line and 2) reset its hardware before doing a "ifdown eth0; ifup eth0; /etc/init.d/networking restart"?  Sometimes there is a message in the kernel.log file indicating etho went down.  I know I can write an endless script to ping an external address and try the restart if the ping fails (or grep the log files for eth0 down...) but I'm hoping to find a more direct indication on eth0 down, hopefully an existing action script invoked when eth0 goes down.  The plug is on a UPS so power isn't an issue, re-routing wires and shielding haven't helped my plug's susceptibility to EMI...
