I just put a copy uf uboot.bin on sheeva.with-linux.com in uboot directory. This is the version I use and it works for ext2loading the kernel. I'm pretty sure it was the last good version available from the sheeva uboot forum topic.

Thanks, you are awesome. Do you think we should do something about the link in the wiki?

Wouldn't hurt. If you do, link the directory not the file, since I may rename it to be more descriptive.

On closer inspection it was linking to someone else. I will probably add a minor section to wiki.

I recently tried the latest DENX U-Boot, compiled for Debian on SheevaPlug, http://people.debian.org/~tbm/u-boot/2011.03-6/sheevaplug/u-boot.kwb. It comes up as: U-Boot 2011.03 (Apr 26 2011 - 21:50:07) Gone are the Marvell text "splash" and the Marvell stamp in the version string. It has support for booting from ubifs and scripting.

I could not get USB to work at all. Everything seems OK.

Not my drives problem. The pingtoo u-boot works, the new one does not.

It must be the new U-Boot that's being fussy then.
Oh well, as long as I can boot SD or MTD I'm happy for now. I do plan to try other USB devices though. Not only flash drives but also rotary hard drives.

I think I will wait another two years for the next version of u-boot for the SheevaPlug.

Debian for ARM posts a new version every 3 months. The latest is June 2011.

Simply making the point that Dec2009 is more stable than Jun2011
