How can i connect a CCTV camera to guru plug...???

Hi all,
         I just want to know how I can connect a CCTV camera
to the guruplug using "USB CAPTURE CARDS" or any other suggestable.

I am using usb capture cards for my computer that runs XP
professional to connect CCTV cameras but i am unable to understand if
there are any capture cards or capture card drivers needed to connect
CCTV camera to the guruplug. Please help me out in this, If any capture
cards/Capture card drivers available for this I am ready to buy them
or else please suggest me any other alternate way to connect any CCTV
camera to the guruplug.

I have a LogiTech Webcam working my guru plug. Just had to enable the 4VL drivers in the kernel config file and now the USB camera shows up as /dev/video0.

I tried with Asus ruter wl500gp2 - 240MHz CPU, 32MB RAM. Works but it is a pain - almost out of resources. Device/driver can't give small resolution and that way, driver/streaming program (mjpg_streamer/motion) requlre lot of memory. Also, device does not support jpeg (for example, my webcam can do jpeg).

I was NOT aware of these details. I was happy, there is driver for linux and I bought quickly one easycap. So, you better check what you need, does the device support jpeg and different resolutions (is the linux driver able to switch and use device with different resolutions). Other way, your software have to do resize/compression it and it will cost you CPU cycles... (Using plug computer, maybe it will works much better. My focus and experience was with 240MHz CPU/32MB RAM.)

It did not work nice for me... Officially it does not support my device 05e1:0408. It support some other devices. You could check what other devices - some webcams, perhaps there are other capture devices.

There are many different variants of EasyCap device. Maybe some of them have more features. The one I have got, does not have many features but it is cheap. This device say, it support 4 CCTV cameras - it does, but in switching mode (not in parallel, not simultaneously). I read some people complained... I also read that linux driver is much better than windows driver .

There are also more expensive alternatives. Please, get back and tell us, your findings.

It's pretty easy to connect a USB Webcam to the Plug and grab images from it.  You don't need a capture card.

A while back I wrote a little article about how to capture images and how to view them over the web using http://sensr.net.  Maybe you'll find this useful.
