these plug 'puters are new to me... and I've read a few teasers about them acting as home media centers, so I'm wondering which (if any) models actually have great graphics/video support w/HDMI out and 1080p? and if there are any, has anyone successfully run Boxee software on Ubuntu or any other linux distro on a plug?

thx

Hello emjayess.

As far as I know there is nothing yet the size of a plug with a HDMI out connector. Maybe if you attached a external USB graphics card to one of the newer plugs would you be able to at least get 720p. This is all speculations from my side, nothing I have tried and I am sure there are plenty of people on this forum that have more knowledge than me in this field.

I see Globalscale have their Guru Display shipping out now. This has HDMI 720p output.

As I understand it, in general, plug processors don't have an ALU, making it a bit difficult to cope with any sort of fast-paced rendering.

Maybe the beagleboard-xm will be of interest. It has a hdmi connector. You'll find further information here: http://beagleboard.org/.
I'm using it running Linaro Linux, and it is more reliable (and much more cool  Wink ) than my Guruplug Plus.

Please note that beagleboard has DVI-D which is using hdmi connector, this means ONLY video using this connector. only source for sound is the stereo out connector.  For more information, look at the beagleboard specifications at http://beagleboard.org/hardware-xM.

And beagleboard can only run 720p video with proper gfx video acceleration installed.
