What is the discoverd daemon, that is in the etc/rc.local?

Running SheevaPlug, bought within a week, from SDCard (flash copied to this).

1.What is the discoverd daemon, that is in the etc/rc.local?  Since the rc.local had other errors, this never was started.  It can be started manually by /usr/sbin/discoverd.  What does it do?

2. What are the two first lilnes of rc.local for?
insmod /boot/fat.ko
insmod /boot/vfat.ko
They gives errors here.

  Just delete them from the rc.local script. They are not needed. See http://www.openplug.org/plugwiki/index.php/New_Plugger_How_To for a more detailed New User lesson.

bfmorgan, Thanks.  BTW, that page doe not make any mention of discoverd.  Interestingly, even googling does not return anything relevent to this.  Can that daemon be that obscure ?

My best guess on discoverd is the project at https://launchpad.net/discoverd, which seems to do service discovery on the local network, but I can't be sure since the linked home page appears to be down.

levrin, Thanks.  This is interesting!  I would soon have apache/php.A  Discoverd could be a useful tool.
