I've been running my Sheevplug for about 6 months now, and never once tried to use the USB port, but now find myself needed additional storage, but whenever I plug in any usb device (thumbdrive, powered hard drive, mouse, keyboard, etc) the Sheevaplug (I'm attached via serial jtag interface) doesn't seem to recognize anything being plugged in at all.

At first I thought maybe it was because of all the customization of the installed Ubuntu, and thought maybe I should upgrade to the latest and greatest firmware and OS, but it appears that you need to do that with a storage device attached to the USB?

Is there any other means of "resurrecting" the usb port or failing that, a way I can upgrade the Sheevaplug without an additional storage medium?
