2.6.30.1 is now available. Kernel and modules are available from the following locations: IPV4: http://sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva/IPV6: http://sheeva6.with-linux.com/sheeva/Features IPV6, CIFS, NFS4, EXT3, EXT4, JFS, XFS, FUSE(for ntfs-3g), UBIFS, usb-serial, uvcvideo, iptables, appletalk, bluetooth, v4l and ppp. Those of you who have requested feature please test functionality. |

cbxbiker61: Thx! ppp works like a charm and now i can connect to teh internets with ZTE MF636  Ps. Did you disable the Highspeed operations (haven't tested the SD Card yet with this kernel)? |

i didn't disable highspeed operations. I'm concerned that making that change would slow down operations for SD cards that seem to work well.

How would I get the source to go with this? I presume there's patches (in the patches folder?) required from straight distribution sources? (Trying to build a custom USB serial device driver.) Thanks, Mark Update: maybe found the answer in topic http://plugcomputer.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=417.0 - except I don't know what the patches are referenced to be available only in >2.6.30 which seems to mean 2.6.31 and not 2.6.30.1  ? |

The source is available from kernel.org. Patches are in /sheeva/2.6.30.1/patches.

Excellent. Downloading and giving it a shot.
IIRC from a previous time, I couldn't compile my device driver because things in the kernel source weren't built. I tried to compile the source (on the Sheeva) but there were like a zillion questions - i don't suppose the sheeva-2.6.30.1.config solves that problem?

Well, the bad news is that I ran README-2.6.30.1 and everything downloaded and wrote - but now it's bricked. Doesn't initialize networking enough to request DHCP address. And my usb console cable doesn't seem to fit - so only if I hold it just right does the USB device show up in the System Profiler of my MacBookPro, and of the two serial drivers, none seem to recognize the device. So, I'm going to bail for now. (Have another cable and system elsewhere to try later.) Thanks for your notes, btw! |

Pardon if this is a total newbee question, but I don't find info anywhere.
I am trying to build udlfb,
This is the command and response :
magnus@debian:~/udlfb$ make install
make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build SUBDIRS=/home/magnus/udlfb modules_install
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.30.1/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [install] Error 2
I belive I misses the linux-headers, but when I try to : sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
The package is not found.

Ok I suspected that. Do I have to get the full kernel source from kernel.org? or do I only need the headers. You must pardon my ignorance, I am a developer but I haven't touched any *nix like os for about 15 years.

2.6.30.1 has been updated to RELEASE 2. This version now properly supports USB network adapters. (I thought I did that before but I guess not).
