Quick note to share my small success story. I compiled my experimental management agent on the plug and can now manage it from a web site (https://meshcentral.com). Best of all, the plug is a great low-power way for my site to monitor other computers on the local network. For example: The web site can use the plug to relay wake-on-lan packets on the local lan.

I have a Youtube demonstration here: http://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2011/01/18/meshcentralcom-running-on-a-plugpc/

Quick follow up say that I just released the PlugPC software. If you go in the "account" page of MeshCentral.com, there is an "install" link. You can select the PlugPC as the device architecture and the web site will show a bunch of lines you can cut & paste into a root command shell to install the agent. Basically create a directory, perform two wget's and setup some links to autostart. It's the simplest way I could find to get software installed. You may need to install wget, also make sure you can "ping meshcentral.com" from the plug. If you can't there is a DNS problem that needs fixing.

That's it. The mesh agent is self-upgrading, so you should only need to install it once. After that, as the web site evolves, more features will show up.

We keep improving https://Meshcentral.com, as part of the effort we released an updated version of the mesh agent for PlugPC (Ubuntu/ARM). In general, we got the web file browser working better than ever. You can down download many files at once and it works, even if the mesh agent is behind a Proxy or NAT router. The new mesh agent will correctly multiplex all of the transfers into a single TCP connection.

Quick update to mention that today, I re-compiled the latest Mesh Agent on Meshcentral.com for Ubuntu ARM. People using Meshcentral on PlugPC's will automatically get the latest update. Also today, I released a new mobile application for Android and iOS. You can use this app to "shell" into your PlugPC. Personally, I use my PlugPC as a low-power always on device and Meshcentral uses it as a relay in the home network to send wake-on-lan packets, monitor other computers, etc.

Hi Ylian.

I have been testing your meshcentral software and although I think it is not for the newbie types, I have it working on a plug.

Can you tell me, when I hit the backspace in terminal the ^H character appear and it does not backspace.

Also, will you implement directory copy and directory delete? When I try this it does not work.

Thanks.
