I thought it may be useful to some of you to have a precompiled kernel with IPV6 support and /proc/config.gz support so I put a uImage and Modules image online.

add ipv6 to /etc/modules and you'll be in business!

If you'd like I can also post my kernel image 2.6.30-rc1 with cifs and proc/config.gz support (based on ubunutu kernel.)  In fast, it might be nice to have a repository of kernel and rootfs images somewhere for the community.  I know that plugcomputer.org has a download section.

Would you mind posting your .config for 2.6.30-rc1.  Is the kernel source for 2.6.30-rc1 unpatched from kernel.org?  Or is it available elsewhere?

My 2.6.22.19 images have been updated to incorporate cifs.

To use: apt-get install smbfs.  Add cifs to /etc/modules.

Here's my .config.   I based it all of of the kirkwood_defaults and did not add anything but  CIFS and kernel config support, Advanced jffs2 compression, some crypto modules  and NTFS support.  I'll probably get rid of NFS support once I've got everything to my liking.  Remember, for some reason this kernel changes the name of the MTD from nand_mtd to orion_nand so adjust your bootargs accordingly. 

I pulled the kernel sources from orion.git as described here.  Very important!  Don't forget to follow the instructions to create the mkimage from uboot .

Unfortunately the forum isn't setup to allow attachments, so excuse the long block of code here.  I'll remove all the comments and none set variables.  It should be usable as a .config like that.  There is still alLOT of room left to remove things from the kernel.  The USB subsystem in particular is full of unneeded things.  You can easily generate this yourself on your plug.  Download the orion.git sources, make ARCH=arm mrproper;make ARCH=arm kirkwood_defconfig;make ARCH=arm menuconfig;make ARCH=arm uImage.  You'll find the kernel image in arch/arm/boot/uImage and can do what you want with it fro there.

If you'd like I can also post my kernel image 2.6.30-rc1 with cifs and proc/config.gz support (based on ubunutu kernel.)  In fast, it might be nice to have a repository of kernel and rootfs images somewhere for the community.  I know that plugcomputer.org has a download section.

optware from nslu2-linux.org will soon create a kernel uImage and kernel module ipkg feed with latest stable mainline kernel.
Update: 2.6.30-rc2 kernel image and modules ipkg feed created http://openplug.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=92.0

I just added usb-serial support to the the kernel  image/modules located here.

my usb-serial  driver has been patched to allow full-speed downloads using high-speed wireless modems, (EVDO for example) as per this thread. http://www.evdoforums.com/thread4381.html Anyone interested in testing out EVDO modems with SheevaPlug?
