Whats your usb transfer speed? optimisation?

Just wondering what the normal usb transfer speed on the plug is. I have a few usb 2.0 drives plugged into the sheevaplug via a usb 2.0 hub.

I generally get around 10mb/s or just below. I was wondering if this is normal, and if there is anything i can do to speed it up?

My laptop can generally do 20mb/s + on the same drives.

What I get reading some large files from an external 3.5" drive through a hub on an otherwise inactive system.
