I have just bought a GuruPlug Standard to use as a file server over the internet of my collection of video and music files so that I can access them from anywhere. I am looking for help from the community as the best way to proceed. I have 1st to get it through my router and on to the net. Then I will need a Linux based application program to run and manage my files which are on an external hard drive I will set up through the USB. Any help with this will be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi

First you should do some initial configuration
Then some things to be sure your GuruPlug is secure
Then set up port or IP forwarding on your router so that your GuruPlug is accessible from the Internet
Then you probably need Dynamic DNS
To manage the files either just use the file system and access them using Samba or use another system. Dont have any information so far...

I've been using Tonido on my sheevaplug for over a year now and have been pretty happy with it. It costs 29.99 for the license..
