USB port dead? (Debian)

Hallo everyone!

I finally received my Sheevaplug today after waiting almost 7 weeks.

I killed the preinstalled Ubuntu and installed Debian exactly according to Martin Michlmayr's instructions to a 4GB SD-Card, which is working fine.

My problem is, that the usb port seems to be dead. No matter what kind of usb device I plug into the Sheevaplug. It is neither recognized by Debian nor any led flashes up. I tried different usb sticks, an usb hub and so on.

What could be the reason for this? Hopefully not a hardware error, because I definately don't want to send the plug back after waiting this long.

  Would you please 'ls /dev' with a USB device connected to the USB port. You should see at least a /dev/sda show up in the listing.

My usb stick has a power indicator LED which stays off. It really seems like there is no power at all on the usb port...

I reinstalled the original U-Boot firmware to see if the error was related to the custom sd-card capable firmware. Furthermore I created a Debian usb-stick. Still no luck.

With an usb stick inserted, u-boot gives me this messages.

I had a similar problem with the SDIO port being dead. Fortunately, GlobalScale support is very responsive, so if you do determine the USB port is dead, you shouldn't have much trouble getting a replacement sent out once you contact them.

Try plugging in a USB device with a status LED. If it doesn't light up I'd say it's dead
