anybody experience with the SheevaPlug Installer ?

Hi,

Anybody tried this one to restore a bricked Sheevaplug ? Sounds like an ideal tool to restore the sheevaplug. But I cant find any topic on this in the forum. Anybody used this already. I am planning to try it.

Is there something I'm missing? The readme did state to execute runme.sh after connecting the USB stick to the Plug but the binary is 386 and not ARM

You need to run the installer on your x86 PC.
The installer will override everything on the plug; so that's why it was designed this way --> it will take over your plug and reflash it.

Alas I don't have an x86 machine running linux. I do have a couple of 2gb thumb drive lying around. I'm gonna put slax onto one of it and try with that, thanks

Do you mean you don't x86 box at all? Or x86-Linux?

If you do have an x86 box then you can boot off a live CD.

I have an x86 machine, my HTPC running vista home premium. Everything else is running linux (nslu2, readynas, xbox, dns-323, and sheevaplug). Found an old 512mb thumb with Slax 6.0.2 on it, will try tonight. Thanks

Call me dippy but the instructions state to extract the tar and then put the USB into the plug.... As there are issues with windows and the linux file(dostounix) format I changed it to expland the tar using the plug..

i'm still getting

Can someone explain this process a little clearer.

Connect Sheevaplug serial cable to a linux PC. Runme.sh is supposed to run on this PC. It will erase and write the complete flas memory of the plug using openocd.
The USB stick is used later on to copy a root filesystem into the flash memory. (Transfers using openocd would be possible, are more complicated and will take longer)
