Have just tried this MIMO 740 integration using the 2.6.31.4 sheeva.with-linux.com kernel (complete with udlfb patch). Running X11 prompts some output on the screen but it is unreadable and constantly flickers.
Did you apply this patch -> http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libdlo/2009-June/000125.htmlYou have to compile udlfb again but after it should work  |

I compiled up the displaylink code and copied it into /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ Hi Mike, would you please post the compiled displaylink.so here? I have my 740 running a text console now... seems like the driver is the missing link... Cheers, Headworx |

Thanks a lot! I have been able to start the desktop, using xfce4, but there seems to be a problem with dpi settings or desktop resolution or something... The mouse cursor is OK, but both fonts and windows are extra-large (see the attached image). Any ideas how to fix this? The screen is MIMO UM-740. There is nothing about pixels or display size in the xorg.conf. Also when trying to run Xorg -configure I get Segmentation fault...  |

Hi Headworx, i've installed and run Gnome successfully on Sheeve Plug! My problems are that i've execute a bad kernel patch with displaylink. Now all work fine, and my resolution is OK! 800x480. |

Yes is right, but i don't use the pre-patched kernel. And my error was that i've patched bad the kernel 2.6.32. |

Hi Headworx, i had the same problem. try xrandr --fb 800x480
xrandr --size 800x480
startxfce4 in your .xinitrc Maybe that helps Torben |

Yes it is better now - the Desktop and Panel shows fine. Fonts are still big and I've just found lowering Desktop Appearance -> Fonts -> Custom DPI setting from the default of 224 down to 96 yields usable GUI. What DPI is recommended?

Hello, I downloaded the 2.6.32.2 prebuilt kernel from http://sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva/index.php?dir=It has the udlfb 0.2.3 driver that I think you also use. My problem is that it always drives the monitor in 1280x1024, but 1024x768 is the highest resolution it supports. I see success stories about Mimo displays that has even lower resolution. How did you make it support that lower resolution? What version of linux, udlfb are you using? Any idea to tell the udlfb 0.2.3 driver to use 1024x768 is very welcome... Thank you, David |

Hi
I've been working to get my Mimo 740 working in the sheevaplug. I have compile all the privers (displaylink_mod and the xf86-video-displaylink) and I'm running on a custom 2.6.32.3 kernel which as had all the appropriate modules enabled (framebuffer support etc)
However I have noticed a couple of things.
1) on bootup the mimo screen does not go green (as I would expect) but the displaylink driver has been registered against the device.
2) when starting X I get a "nanovision MiMo enabled but has no modes" error. (See attached log file for more details)
Anyone have any ideas on what the issues might be?

Hello Anyone who may bump into this issue may be interested in this solution.... The issue: - I connected a 1024x768 capable HP LCD modintor to my sheevaplug through a DisplayLink based USB adapter
- The original factory supplied kernel did not recognize the adapter at all
- Then I tried the 2.6.32.2 kernel from http://sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva/index.php which did recognize the device but it always tried 1280x1024 which is not supported by my monitor
- Then I tried the 2.6.32.3 kernel which is the same (because of the same udlfb 0.2.3 driver)
- After reading the source I realized that the kernel was actually complaining about EDID: "EDID XRES 0 YRES 0"
- Becuase of that it has set the resolution to default: 1280x1024
The solution #1 (the more time consuming): - I downloaded the 2.6.32.3 kernel source
- Applied the corresponding patches from http://sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva/index.php
- Edited udlfb.c // info->var.xres = 1024; and // info->var.yres = 768; around line #782
- Compiled and Installed the kernel and the modules
