I'm just wondering if SheevaPlug could be used as a small game server (eg for max 4 players) for games like Counter Strike 1.6 or assaultcube.Would it be possible to port theese servers to ARM?
And what would be the preformance as sheeva don't have a FPU and GPU AFAIK.

May sound a bit crazy, but it would be nice to see it working

Yes, definitely you're crazy. Definitely CS won't work, since its a closed-source game/server, unless you put qemu on the plug, and emulate either a windows or linux machine.

As for assaultcube, i don't know the game, but wikipedia says its opensource, so who knows, maybe it works.

Yes, Counter strike is closed source but  here http://www.cstrike.ro/tutorial_cs16_nosteam_linux.php there seems to be one for linux.But i guess its only for x86.
But as for AC it could be possible.
Ill try it once i get sheeva in my hands (still waiting ....  )

did someone try to use a plug as a game server yet?

I would like to run a Q3 server when I get mine, does anyone think that could be possible?
Maybe with qemu, but then Q3 is open source so I might be able to port it..? I'll definitely try
but I would like to know if somebody already tried to use a plug as a game server (especially
interested in CPU load).
