Debian running on the plug

This probably will reveal my ignorance with respect to matters surrounding the building kernels, but I'm interested in playing with the Debian kernel posted here.  Can anyone explain what I have to do to encapsulate the raw kernel extracted from the .deb file with the Uboot PPCBoot wrapper so that it might be bootable from Uboot on the Plug?

Install the Debian package with "dpkg -i ...deb" and then run "flash-kernel".  It will create an uboot image for the kernel and ramdisk in /boot automatically.

I have successfully upgraded the kernel using the latest dep file and the method described.  I see that some header files are created in the lib/modules directory but when I tried to compile my wireless USB rt2870sta driver, I got the following:

make[1]: Entering directory `/lib/modules/2.6.31-trunk-kirkwood/build'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `modules'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/lib/modules/2.6.31-trunk-kirkwood/build'
make: *** [liNUX] Error 2

Is the list of header files complete in the dep package?
