I tried a cross compiled 2.6.30-rc4 and a "natively" compiled kernel on the plug but I am not able to write it onto the flash like http://dev.gentoo.org/~armin76/arm/sheevaplug/install.xml says. My dmesg output is full of
Code:
[..]uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectableerror : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>uncorrectable error : <3>end_request: I/O error, dev mtdblock1, sector 3832
Buffer I/O error on device mtdblock1, logical block 479
lost page write due to I/O error on mtdblock1
Do I have to do anything else than
Code:
cat uImage > /dev/mtdblock1
?

Maybe because of the badblock on the NAND.  Use nandwrite instead of cat.

For example:
flash_eraseall /dev/mtd2
nandwrite /dev/mtd2  /rootfs_fc8_340M.jffs2
mount -t jffs2 /dev/mtdblock2 /mnt/mtd2

Thank you. This worked but I needed the -p for nandwrite but the rest is the same for the uImage.
