Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and new to plug computing.  I am in need of a low cost box that will run print tests and someone suggested plug computers as a viable platform.  The scenario is as follows:

The plug computer will run some variant of lean or embedded Linux.
The printer model will change from time to time.
Printer drivers will not be installed on the box.  Instead, a print file that has the printer init commands (preamble) embedded will be passed to the USB port when specific conditions (scripted) are met.

So, my questions is, is there a way to directly dump a data file to a specific port?  What existing O/S supports this?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
