Seeva -> Sheeva ESATA: No ethernet

Hello,

I was wondering if this is a known issue:
I have two sheeva plugs (1 no sata, 1 esata) with both debian sid on sd card. I now need to switch the sd cards without reinstalling the systems. The swapped cards do both boot. The only thing which does not work is ethernet.

It does load the driver:
[   23.294215] MV-643xx 10/100/1000 ethernet driver version 1.4
[   23.300171] mv643xx_eth smi: probed

Both swapped cards do not detect the ethernet port. (They work fine in the original plugs.) I tried to reload the mv643xx_eth on the esata Sheeva and got a kernel panic.

Both systems are up to date and I've used flash-kernel before i swapped the cards.

Any ideas on this? Is the ethernet card different between these plugs?

I tried to reload the mv643xx_eth on the esata Sheeva and got a kernel panic.

If loading a module causes kernel panic this often means that the module was compiled for different kernel version and/or configuration.

I tried it again and noticed that udev assigned different interface names -> I swaped them too and now everything works again.
