Hi, I want to start a thread to see how fast orders are being shipped out, etc.... Is it the "4 weeks" that is on the website, or more like "4 months"? Please post your model, order date and current status / vendor / version... Example: Model:Guru Server Standard Vendor: GlobalScale Ordered: 8/1/2010 Status: Received 9/14/2010 Hardware Version: Has new jet engine fan Comment: It works great and hasn't burned my house down yet! Thanks!

Well... I can only say this on my order
Model:Guru Server Plus Vendor: GlobalScale Ordered: Aug 7th Status: MIA Hardware Version: I'll tell you when I get it Comment: I can confirm that it hasn't burned my house down yet!
I have contacted them, and now they claim that it should arrive in late September and that I should receive an e-mail with a tracking number when they ship it (still waiting for that e-mail...)

Model:Guru Server Plus Vendor: Globalscale Ordered: May 7th Status: Repeatedly told it will be shipping soon Hardware version: Unknown Comment:Last email claimed they'd be getting Guruplugs from their manufacturer in China the last week of August and that my ordered would be filled with the first batch.

This sucks.. I have been looking to get one for a couple of months, so I created this thread to see if they had things finally sorted out. It sounds like they still don't have their shit together. FAIL.

This makes me sad. I've had my sheevaplug for over a year and its a great server. But I want another to hack software with and don't want to wait months and months for a new baby. I wish they can keep up with demand.

So to expand on the question a little bit...
Is anyone shipping Plug computers on a timely schedule? I'm in the US and really interested in getting one or two to tinker with.
I see lots of complaints about GlobalScale. Is Ionics any better?
What about the other consumer packaged plugs? Are any of them worth buying and trying to hack?
====
I guess in the end I'm asking for suggestions on what plug to *try to buy* given everyone's history.

We ship from stock to the US, http://www.newit.co.uk/shop/categories.php normally takes about 7 days to get over to you chaps in the US. Our GuruPlugs are due into us on Friday 24/9/10, and we will be despatching out on Monday/Tuesday the following week. Hope this helps you.

How do I figure pricing? Just let the Visa card people figure it out? Who manufactures your plugs? Are they just rebranded GlobalScale ones? Also, you don't list a US power kit for the Guru plugs. Is it available? I guess I should just email you! But thanks again for your prompt reply.

To answer your questions; Pricing, yes the paymant provider you use will use their exchange rates to calculate the price. Globalscale. We only have US versions of the SheevaPlug and OpenRD, we can supply a US cable to go with the Guru's, but we do not have the US slider so the unit can hang from a power socket on the wall.
Hope tha helps you and others.

@amir.ro I received my full refund from Globalscale with no fuss at all. It's a shame though, I love the idea of the guru and it's wireless capability clinched it for me.
The guruplug's got it's problems but there's so much potential in the form factor. I hope the technology matures a bit and more manufacturer's start to release novel designs. Until then, maybe I can cook something of my own up...
