Hi,
With Ubuntu 9.04 coming to the end of life in October 2010 (see here), there will be no further security updates.  Many of us, especially those who use the sheevaplug an internet facing web server, will be thinking of making the switch to Debian, at least in order to have continued security updates.

Are you in this position ?  What are your thoughts ?  Also, New IT (here in the UK) are still shipping sheevaplugs with Ubuntu 9.04.  I wonder when they are going to change that.

Cheers,
Jim.

Not any more.  I boot entirely from SDHC and ~2 months back I formatted a fresh SDHC card, unpacked the Debian lenny rootfs file, edited in the relevant config changes, rebooted on the new SDHC card and ran the requisite aptitude commands to get back the packages I originally had.  All quite simple.
And I now have a spare 16GB SDHC card in case my live one fails.
