ethernet port issues

I have a plug running ubuntu 2.6.30.2.
I checked the network connection using ping and it is unable to connect to the internet. I've checked the same internet connection with another identical plug running ubuntu and the connection is working. Any suggestions, perhaps a Ethernet port hardware problem?

The output of the following commands would be a good starting place, from both plugs:
$ ifconfig -a
$ route
$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
