Tuto : How to replace the power supplied of GuruServer +

Hi,
With the know heat problem of GuruplugServer+ i replace the power supply.
So i bough an external power adaptater with femal connector.

You need 5v / 3A. I read somewhere here that 2A is just enough, but a little bit more is better, so 2.5/3A is ok, especially if you connect some USB/esata HDD.

I open the plug .. and lose the warranty



I solder the femal connector on the output of original power supply. I advise to set the + (red) in the center of the connector, so be aware of the direction.

Why i keep the power supply of the plug ?
I haven't another connector between power supply & computer part of the plug.
The power supply of my plug isn't dead, so i wanted keep it fonctional.
And there not anough place to have a two connector in the box.

WARNING : It's better to disconnect (unsolder) the power supply of plug. Else, if you connect the extermal adaptator AND the power supply you will burn your plug 

Finnaly make a hole on the opposite side of USB/RJ45 connectors. For me an 8mm hole.
And put back the power supply :


Finnaly putback the computer part and reassemble everythings.


Well it's done & works !!!

and doing that....did it fix the "heat problem"

at least we would know if the problem is with the power or not

My plug was not responsive two time in hot days, before i do that.
I don't know if it fix the heat problem but at least help i think is helpfully.
Now the plug is less hot than before, so we will see
