eSata 4.5TB Harddrive (DAS with Raid5)

Hello

I would like to get a DAS (an external housing for 4 hard drives with Raid functionality) and connect it over eSata, in total I would have 4.5TB. Now I have read about problems if the disk-size is too big (over 2TB). The posts I read are rather old so I am wondering if there is still a limit or if any problems could occur? Does anyone has facts about it or experience?

It says that
"Breaking 2TB Option 2 – Use Linux with CONFIG_LBD enabled.  Most Linux file systems are capable of partitions larger than 2 TB, as long as the Linux kernel itself is. (See this comparison of Linux file systems.) Most Linux distributions now have kernels compiled with CONFIG_LBD enabled (Ubuntu 6.10 does, for example.) As long as the kernel is configured/compiled properly, it is straight-forward to create a single 4TB EXT3 (or similar) partition."

Is that true with the current Debian for the GuruPlug Server Plus? How can I check if CONFIG_LBD is enabled?

I figured out that it should work. The mentioned option CONFIG_LBD is obsolete and as I guess within the Kernel. There is also no concern as long as the Raid is not divided in multiple partitions, since the MSDOS partition table can only handle drives <2TB.
