Ok. Just re-uploaded the first part to FileDropper again so that link should be good again for the moment. Link is (for ease of reference): http://www.filedropper.com/guruplughostjune2010zip

Marcus, if you'd like to host it at New IT that would be awesome.

Thanks big,

Your upload to filedropper worked.
Many Thanks.

I would like to note a few issues importing the .vmdk file using Virtualbox ( my preferred VM environment ).

* Virtualbox 3.2.8 will not import as an appliance nor as an existing hard disk ( if you create a new VM ).
* Suggestion is to use Virtualbox 3.2.6 ( I used the pre-built binaries provided by http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads )
*     Virtualbox 3.2.6 works via Import Appliance option and as existing hard disk, If you are creating a new VM.

* Main error I stumbled upon:

   * When importing ( after I applied the cat command on *.001, *.002, *.003, *.004 parted zip files and unzipped successfully) the *.vmdk file. I had an issue with a mismatch SHA1 checksum. You will have a *.mf file that states a checksum for the *.vmdk file. I had an mismatch, that required an edit to the *.mf file with an updated checksum that correspnds to an entry for *.vmdk. Depending on your platform you may have sha1 command available. I had to rechecksum my files to make Virtualbox happy.

hope this helps.

Thank you very much for re-uploading. I got 2 truncated downloads, but third time was a charm. I'll try it out and have a think about the best way to host (ie as a single file, or in the multiple parts) on the New IT website, and post a link here.

I made a temporary download link as well.
These are the original *.00x files.

Its only a 1Mb connection so speeds will be pretty slow, however another source is helpful A.T.M

I have verified the downloaded files, and extracted the Virtual Machine from within. I've taken a brief look at the VM, but only enough to establish that I'm not using the appropriate host software to provide the USB / JTAG connection. I'm also suffering from a severe lack of hard drive space, so I'm not in a position to investigate to any great extent at this time.

However, I will begin uploading the files (in the same format that they have been provided thus far) to New IT web space tomorrow morning. I will publish the URLs once the uploads are complete (on Tuesday, most likely).

As promised, the files may be downloaded from the New IT website:

http://www.newit.co.uk/files-guruplug/big_ignoramus-virtual_host2010-06/

# GuruPlug_host_June_2010.zip.001
# GuruPlug_host_June_2010.zip.002
# GuruPlug_host_June_2010.zip.003
# GuruPlug_host_June_2010.zip.004
# checksum.txt

And I have created an additional file to briefly explain the files, and link back to here:

@marcus and denn: thanks for hosting the files....I hope they help newcomers to the GuruPlug

@marcus: I store my VMs on a USB HDD....if you've got one laying around you might be able to play with it while not having it consume internal HDD space

I just tried this vm
I encountered an error when running on virtualbox 3.2.8
the vmdk file should be repaired using tool   from   Oracle :  http://www.virtualbox.org/download/VBoxFixHdd/
see : http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/7289

type :  VBoxFixHdd --filename /path/xxxxxxxxx.vmdk --zeroparentuuid

after this change import ovl is ok
