Does the above uboot error pretty much mean I have bad nand flash, or could it be caused by some error on my part?  I have reflashed uboot several times and with several different versions.  It always seems to work and reports the correct version when booting, but always gives the above warning.

u-boot is fine. Interrupt the boot (hit anything to reach the marvell prompt). set your ethernet address(es) (set ethaddr aa:bb:cc:...). Save environment (saveenv) and your are done.

Yes, thanks.  I also discovered that this is caused by a resetenv without a saveenv.
