Bad erase block?

Hello!

I'm a proud new owner of a SheevaPlug, got it from NewIT. So far so good (I ordered the UBIFS Ubuntu kit) but one thing bugs me, and kinda freaks me out. Upon boot, I get this on dmesg:

Should I be scared?

No, that's perfectly normal. Flash chips almost always have bad blocks and have mechanisms to deal with it. For example, the boot load can skip over bad blocks and flash file systems such as JFFS2 and UBIFS know how to handle them. As it stands, a single bad erase block is actually pretty good

The most number of bad blocks that I have seen is 19. I've seen about five plugs with 10+ bad blocks; but most are in the area of 3-5. "Only" 1 bad block is good.

Why pay extra? This plug is no more then a year old. I demanded a replacementplug or full refund. I will not pay another 10 bucks and fix it myself. I can EXPECT it to last longer then a  year. Which it didn't manage.
