Some of the GuruPlug documentation mentions an internal microSD card slot, present on both models (in the case of the "Plus" model, the internal slot is in addition to the external one). The FCC photos, schematic, block diagram, and description all show this internal slot.
My question is this: is this jack soldered on to the "Standard" version of the GuruPlug, or is it unpopulated on the board?

it's unpopulated.
Is this from direct observation?

I don't think anyone outside of Globalscale knows for sure. We don't even know if it's populated on the Plus version, just assumptions based on the FCC certification pictures.

If someone tells me how to crack the guruplug open without damaging it, I can do so, and report. I might even take a picture...
Well, It is easy to open. There is a connector called J3, which might be a microsd slot, and it is unpopulated. Also of note, there seem to be 3 leds, out of a possible 8 leds, based on the transparent parts on the cover... I do have a photo, if someone really wants to see it.
There are two stacked boards, and the top board has a button (not externally accessable) and a small coin cell.

Is it not just held together with screws in the four holes in the back?

The screws were covered with removable rubber bumpers. I am screwing it back together right now...

Aah, makes sense. All I have to work with are the pictures accompanying the FCC certification. I didn't know anybody outside GST had a GuruPlug.

From the FCC photos and diagrams, J3 is the internal microSD and J4 is the external. By "there is a connector ... unpopulated", do you mean:
(a) the connector is soldered to the board, but empty, or (b) the connector is not soldered to the board (the pads are not connected)?
Sorry to ask all these questions, this really affects the suitability of the Standard version for many applications.

When I said 'unpopulated', I meant there was nothing soldered there. I didn't mean that there was a empty micro sd socket there.
There is a raw circuit board, with pads covered in solder.
