Force reboot via serial console?

So my Plug has just died --- the USB system seems to have gone funny on bootup and it's hung.
The problem is, I'm at work, and the Plug is several miles away at home. I'm working remotely via the serial console and I can't reach the reset switch from here.
Is there any way of forcing the plug to reboot remotely given that I can't log in to it?
According to the kernel docs, I should be able to use the 'magic SysRq key' feature to do this by sending BREAK, b over the console. However, this needs to be enabled in the kernel. Obviously, I can't log in to check this right now, but trying it doesn't work.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Call the power company and see if you can get them to turn your power off and on?
Barack Obama could get them to do it. hehe
