It would seem Globalscale is backordered 2-3 weeks.  Is this generally true with other suppliers?

Where are all the SheevaPlugs?  Is there that much demand?

Eric.

I ordered mine from Globalscale, and they shipped it a week later.

No idea if I just got extremely lucky, or perhaps it was because I had also ordered an OpenRD Client at the same time.  Whatever the cause, I sent them an email asking if I'd get the Client separately or if they would hold it until they got the Plugs in (having read the six-plus-week horror stories here) and they replied that the whole order would be shipping the next day.  And it did!

Maybe they're finally getting caught up.

Hey Joe, I have a question about the OpenRD client -- have you started working with it yet?  I'm waiting for a plug to arrive tomorrow, and all I've been working with is a Marvell dev system.  Which is fine, I've gotten my code working, but I need to work with an installer and put it on flash as a stand-alone plug app.  The Marvell dev kit is different than the plug in how this works, has a different uboot, etc.

Is the OpenRD a lot like the SheevaPlug in terms of flash size, uboot version, etc?  For example, the dev kit's uboot won't boot via USB -- I could try and flash a newer uboot, but I'm afraid of bricking my dev kit (for no good reason).

Turns out I've got an OpenRD client board sitting here, never plugged in.  If it's closer to the shipping plug (which I'd guess it must be, since they're both made by Globalscale), then it'd be worth messing with it today to try and get the installer installed.

I've also got a pogoplug that I can log into.  I really appreciate their teeny-tiny rootfs; I'd like to do the same thing rather than the Jaunty fs if I can figure it out...

I have mine running as a firewall / server for my home.  The UBoot was "old" just like the Sheeva, I upgraded it.  Wasn't as easy as the Sheeva, no handy installer.  I fought with openocd for a long time and never had any luck with it.  Finally used TFTP to upgrade it.  The UBoot is different from the Sheeva, I found a newer one on the Open-RD list on Google Groups.

I'm not trying to make embedded devices, so I've not worked with the Marvell stuff at all and since I wanted a larger FS than the built-in flash I installed Debian to an SDHC card and haven't touched the flash since.

The OpenRD came with Red Hat Fedora 8, which I think is pretty old...
