Sorry if this has been covered before, but I am at a total loss.

I cant find a device to connect to when I plug in my USB cable.

DMESG gives me these lines when I pl,ug in the cable

Code:
[  225.324061] usb 4-3: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3
[  225.504218] usb 4-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

My tty and usb devices from /dev are

Code:
tty
tty0
tty1
tty10
tty11
tty12
tty13
tty14
tty15
tty16
tty17
tty18
tty19
tty2
tty20
tty21
tty22

ttyS0
ttyS1
ttyS2
ttyS3
usbdev1.1_ep00
usbdev1.1_ep81
usbdev2.1_ep00
usbdev2.1_ep81

I understand from looking elsewhere that there should be a ttyusbx device or similar?

Am I missing a package?

Thanks for any help.

Are you forgetting modprobe?

http://plugcomputer.org/plugwiki/index.php/Setting_up_Serial_Console_Under_Linux

Code:
modprobe ftdi_sio vendor=0x9e88 product=0x9e8f
