The new models they are showing on the website are what they intend to produce, i don't think they have any working models as yet.
I think your assumption is very wrong. I was at the CES2010 and saw the product models running with my own eyes. In fact the Plug Computer 3.0 being demoed by Marvell was made by Ionics (I've confirmed this independently and it's true) and surely everyone has to agree the Ionics Plug Computer 3.0 is running? I have pictures that I took to prove it.
What was really interesting was that not only Ionics had a tarpaulin diaplay to show all their models (as descrbved in http://www.ionicsplug.com
), but they also had a small carry case that showed all "7 servers in a small bag". Cool idea to emphaize their small footprint designs
(6 are actually running and 1 was a mockup - Cumulus if I remembered correctly). There's even a really cute 4-port USB version of their ultra compact Plug streaming 3-4 USB Webcams simultaneously - to show off their highly quality USB design. Plug Cpmputer 3.0
The Plug Computer 3.0 as shown by Marvell was also displayed inside this small demo case. For sure it was a working unit and was even streaming videos via WiFi. They also showed Bluetooth Music streaming off another model and claimed it is the same WiFI/BT chipset so the Plug Computer 3.0 can do the same.
You can see the Plug Computer 3.0 in the bottom row, on the left.Plug Comnputer 2.0
Also I saw a video of a Marvell staff introducing the Plug Cpmputer 2.0 http://armdevices.net/2010/01/19/sheeva-plug-2-0-and-plug-computer-3-0-at-ces-2010/
. It looks exactly like the Ionics Small tiny plug and even bears their logo!
Could they have also made this? From the Ionics website, the Chip is the same as that for the Plutg Compuyter 3.0 anyway. So guess one can infer from there....
