Anyone had success with USB hubs and different peripherals connected to it? Someone got a usb wifi device working with the plug. Makes the solution a lot more interesting if it can be connected via a USB hub, that way one can still use their USB hard drive along with it.

I have a 4-port hub running off mine, and it has a Wifi USB dongle running from it.

That much runs with the hub unpowered (it also has a digital PVR plugged into it, but that doesn't take any power anyway).

I do from time to time, attach an external USB disk drive to it.  For that I power up the USB hub before plugging in the disk drive.

I've also attached a USB soundcard (although I've not yet found something that can play WAV or MP3 files, since mplayer seems to be missing fro the depositories), and started to test a small LED toy display gadget that I happen to have.

All works fine for me.

Could you list the exact make/model of the peripherals you used in your setup?
hub/wifi/pvr etc.

thanks,

Could you list the exact make/model of the peripherals you used in your setup?
hub/wifi/pvr etc.

"Permanently" connected:
The hub is a 4-port Belkin one (like this)
The Wifi Adaptor has a RealTek RTL8187B chipset (see here)
The PVR is a Topfield 5800 (earlier model of this)

Connected on-demand (every few days):
The USB disk drive is a 160GB Maxtor Basics Portable Storage (2.5" drive in black, sealed case).

Occasionally connected - just for testing/fun:
The soundcard is something that came with a Logitech Wireless keyboard I no longer use (it was in the Wireless receiver - something Skype related, IIRC).
The LED message board toy is one of these

I've also plugged in other externally-powered USB drives and a DVD drive.

Not all at the same time, of course........
