Do you use dm_crypt on a USB disk?

Can you try this quick benchmark:

Code:
echo write command 500 MB:
sync; time sh -c "dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=1000k count=500; sync"
echo read command:
sync; time sh -c "dd if=./test of=/dev/null; sync"
rm ./test

I get about 10Mbytes/s read/write on a dm_crypt USB hard disk ext3 partition with hardware encryption (5Mbytes/s with no hardware support and 30Mbytes/s with no encryption at all)

I have hardware crypto with dm_crypt, but that's it. Have not bothered going for anything more as it's the only thing i really use a lot.

Haven't done exactly this test but i did a similar with dd before with a 3ish gb large file, and i got about 7mb/sec sustained write and about 8-9 read.

Starting to think encryption is not worth it on it thou, due to the vast amount of cpu time that's lost the moment you need to copy anything plus the gigantic hassle to mount it all when you restart (not that you do that alot, but i just forgot to unmount it and sent a reboot, and now It's probably trying to do something it can't do)

I got cryptotest compiled (had to make a tweak to the source)

I downloaded the binary but it didn't work, would you mind posting your patched source?
