16  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / U-Boot stuff / Re: Bad block in nand uImage after ESIA/EPIA installation on: July 29, 2010, 12:42:14 AM
Hi,

It looks like that is the issue, that latest ESIA uses dd instead of nand bad block aware API, can you try old ESIA version and see if it resolves the bad block issue?

the rename came from marketing, I have no plans currently for additional dev

Hi guys,

Yes the SF project name has been changed (esia->epia), sorry for inconvenience Embarrassed
I updated the seed of this thread and the header too, though the binaries and the documents still refer to esia.

I found it in sheeva-2.6.34.1-Modules.tar\lib\modules\2.6.34.1\kernel\fs\autofs\autofs.ko, it could be that the kernel version you have did not include this device driver, you can build it yourself if you want or proceed to a later version.

Device drivers are added to the build according to plug users requests.

It looks like the modules.dep is missing from your module.tar.gz tarball, try to download a more resent kernel and modules tarball from http://sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva/ and verify that it does include this file.

Regarding autofs, search the modules.tar.gz to see if you can locate this kernel module to make sure it is being installed via ESIA.

Remember to change the MANIFEST file MD5 signature after the replacement of uImage/modules.tar.gz

Will it be hard to add a backup option to this application without having to reflash your plug?
It is not hard to add it, but needs time and releasing of binaries for all OSes and 64bit, I currently do not have the time to do this task.

The ESIA project was created by Marvell as open source project assuming the community will contribute any additional features after the basic functionality is implemented.

Sorry  Sad

Can you perform the installation from Linux and post the console output?
23  General Category / General Discussion / Re: New QT based installer: Enhanced Sheevaplug Installer Application (ESIA) on: July 04, 2010, 08:37:02 PM
The ESIA supports connection with plug via FTDI chip than needs to be in the plug, I do not think the DockStar has that.
From you question I understand you use a serial to USB converter, then I assume the ESIA sees that PID/VID and not the FTDI chip in the DockStar.

Regarding ESIA usage via serial, it should be supported since we see some plugs on the market that have only serial port. unfortunately I do not have the time currently to add this support.
If someone from this forum wants to add this to the source that will be nice.
24  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / U-Boot stuff / Re: I bricked my Sheevaplug,but now i can't find MAC Address infor on Plug on: July 04, 2010, 08:26:48 PM
Hi,

If you need to set the MAC address you must have working uboot first, does it boot?
If not then the only way is via OpenOCD, but the configuration files in the tarball are for the 6281 not the 6282, need to change them to make it work.
25  General Category / General Discussion / Re: New QT based installer: Enhanced Sheevaplug Installer Application (ESIA) on: July 02, 2010, 10:07:43 AM
So both plugs are the same and both have the same uboot env settings?
26  Linux Stuff / General Linux questions / Re: installer 1.0 booting sign salad on: June 30, 2010, 10:43:34 PM
What plug are you using?
If it based on 6282 then it is a known issue, Mainline Linux does not support this Z0 version SoC properly.

You will need to patch the kernel with this patch

snake,

The first time you connect to the plugdroid the VNC will have some issues, reboot the device and try to connect again.

hanker,

I understood from Paul that only after flashing the uboot with version 3.4.16 the ESIA progress bar worked.
Though in both cases the distro was burned to nand/sd.
29  General Category / General Discussion / Re: New QT based installer: Enhanced Sheevaplug Installer Application (ESIA) on: June 20, 2010, 05:23:18 AM
hanker,

So I guess you got the ESIA to burn the Ubuntu to your plug, the 8% issue can be resolved with burning different uboot version (I think 3.4.26).

Regarding the LEDs, it can be one of the two: Kernel version supporting the plug HW or Uboot version
