1  Linux Stuff / Kernel / gentoo-sources vs vanilla-sources on: September 01, 2009, 12:35:54 PM
Hi.
On the site http://dev.gentoo.org/~armin76/arm/sheevaplug/install.xml the kernel vanilla-sources is used to install gentoo on the sheevaplug. Why isn't the usually recommended (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-kernel.xml) kernel gentoo-sources used?

Finally Cheesy. I used a USB hub and plugged the USB stick in when the countdown was at 1 and my sheevaplug found it.

I used the alpha6 installer. But, it doesn't help.
6  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / Hardware / USB port not working at all (solved) on: August 26, 2009, 04:54:50 PM
Hi.
The USB port of my sheevaplug doesn't recognize any USB devices (both flash and spinning drives). I tried the original U-Boot from the CD and compiled U-Boot from Marvells git and the git of the U-Boot developers and installed these. I setup rootdelay=10. Executed "usb start". Plugged in the USB device upon boot. Used different USB-IDE adapters and USB flash drives. But, nothing is working. I want to install Gentoo Linux on the external spinning USB hard drive using the official tutorial.

I got it working.  I need to execute "make distclean". In the attachement is the u-boot.kwb which is working on my sheevaplug. Your kernel will be deleted if you flash your plug with the u-boot.kwb:

Code:

9  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / U-Boot stuff / Problem flashing u-boot.kwb (solved) on: August 25, 2009, 04:14:01 PM
Hi.

I successfully compiled an u-boot.kwb following the tutorial and using the arm-none-eabi cross compiler. But, I brick my sheevaplug as soon as I flash the u-boot.kwb on the NAND following the tutorial and I am forced to use the alpha6 installer. Does somebody know what I need to do? The u-boot.kwb is in the attachement.

Hi.
Thanks for the reply. I meant with Sheevaplug Installer the alpha6 installer. I installed Putty on my Archlinux laptop and it's working perfectly. Thanks a lot Cheesy.

Hi.
I am trying to stop the autoboot of U-Boot. I tried this on different pcs, distributions and with different terminal software (kermit, minicom). I even updated the U-Boot of my Sheevaplug using the Sheevaplug Installer. But, I can't stop the autoboot. Can somebody help me, please?
