2  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: 3.2.2 new kernel available on: January 27, 2012, 09:00:36 PM
I used this https://github.com/jsnyder/arm-eabi-toolchainto build a new toolchain. Then I tried to rebuild with gcc-4.6.1 - no joy.

Next over at http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,6550 I saw a suggestion to turn MTD off and I was able to build a booting kernel, but this is unstable since the kernel gives an oops

Code:

3  Linux Stuff / Linux distributions / Fedora 13 ARM Beta Release on: February 24, 2011, 03:10:21 AM
The Fedora 13 ARM Beta is now available for download. There are still a number of packages that haven’t been built for ARM due to build failures or missing dependencies. We’re a little behind the primary architectures so we have the ability to look at later releases to see if these failures have been fixed – thankfully a large number include support for ARM. Because of this we expect that with Fedora 14 and 15 we will be closer in line with the primary architectures.

A new root file system is available for download - http://scotland.proximity.on.ca/fedora-arm/beta/f13/rootfs-f13-beta-2011-02-22.tar.bz2

The password for the root account is “fedoraarm”.

Instructions for using the root file system can be found at - http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/ARM/Using

The Fedora 13 ARM repository is temporarily located at – http://arm.koji.fedoraproject.org/mash/beta/f13-arm-2011-02-21/f13-arm/arm/os/

A comparision of the packages included in this beta release with the versions included in the primary 32-bit architecture (i686) - http://hongkong.proximity.on.ca/f13-arm-beta1/

The Fedora 13 ARM Beta release notes - http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/ARM/F13-ARM-Beta1

We will now be working to get the remaining packages in Fedora 13 built, then move on to updates and Fedora 14.

Enjoy,

4  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / U-Boot stuff / Re: Making u-boot boot boot.scr instead of hard-coding the kernel name on: January 15, 2011, 06:12:37 PM
It can be done with the denx open u-boot http://www.denx.de/wiki/view/DULG/UBootScripts but yesterday when I built a new version after following these instructions http://plugcomputer.org/plugwiki/index.php/Das_U-boot_plug_support I find that that version cannot support SD cards also the size is slightly smaller and after integrating it with the sheevaplug installer it was not able to boot from the usb and complete the install

Can you post the boot.scr that your efika has to give me an idea what is possible with uboot scripts

Thanks but the file is still missing maybe you need to chown/chmod? for the webserver to see it?

Hi,
I finally got around to building a new toolchain on my laptop - and saw this post on making an updated cross compiler, unfortunately this patch file is missing ' wget -c http://sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva/tools/CodeSourcery-Gcc4.4.3.patch' is this a diff from gcc-4.4.1 to gcc-4.4.3? where did it come from? can you update to gcc-4.4.4?

Thanks & best regards

7  General Category / General Discussion / Re: New QT based installer: Enhanced Sheevaplug Installer Application (ESIA) on: April 14, 2010, 09:23:50 PM
I uploaded a fixed version of the ESIA for Fedora12 (version 2.0.4-2) and replaced the windows installation with a binary that includes the missing files, so there is no need to use the setupESIA-2.0.4.exe_missing_files.zip.

Also uploaded esia_2.0.4-1_amd64.deb for AMD64 users.

I have just tried this and the symlink to the distro provided openocd is no good - F12 has openocd v 0.4.0 which has a slightly different config file format.

There seems to be some problem in your Fedora 12 x86_64 build - it seems to be linked against some i386 libraries perhaps you should check and see if you can build it in mock? or ask Kedar to push it through the Fedora Koji as a scratch build

Once you post source I could help

Ajay

further digging shows the problem to be in /usr/share/esia/uboot/openocd

this was fixed earlier by using a static build

http://plugcomputer.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=717.msg4535#msg4535

Hope this helps in fixing the next version of esia
