It seems to me that is not possible, at least not without new firmware.

Currently, to use the plug in acces point mode requires a different firmware from the one used in client mode.  It would be great if someone were to write a firmware that allows the plug to function both as ap and client simultaneously, but I don't know if the hardware (the Marvell 88W8688 chip) supports such functionality.

Thank you, that info was just what I was looking for.  My guruplug's bluetooth is working now (although it's still a bit fussy about making connections; sometimes i need to try a couple of times).

I got mpd (music player daemon) and remuco-mpd (bluetooth remote for mpd)  running on my guruplug. So, using any cheap java phone I can control what's playing on my stereo. It's great!
