1  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: 2.6.35.4 new release on: September 18, 2010, 03:08:35 PM
Thank you so much, that did the trick.
2  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: 2.6.35.4 new release on: September 18, 2010, 07:41:49 AM
Sorry for my ignorance, but from where can I get the new version??

same place as usual.  just delete the sheeva-2.6.35.4* files previously downloaded by README-2.6.35.4 and rerun README-2.6.35.4.  It will get the new version.

Are you absolutely shure? The date of the files hasn't changed and at least the size of the modules is exactely the same. You see I don't use the readme file because I boot my Sheevas from a dockstar running ftfp and nfs (as rootfs).

I've updated 2.6.35.4 with printk_time and usb touchscreen support.
Thanks a lot, I will install it ASAP.

Are you sure that you're not needing X drivers rather than kernel drivers?  I did look into this a bit and it seemed that touchscreen is handled by
X drivers.  If you have a particular kernel driver in mind let me know.

The thing is that I am not using X, but qws.  I think the kernel driver is USB Tochscreen (CONFIG_TOUCHSCREEN_USB_COMPOSITE).

the output from lsusb is now :
Bus 001 Device 022: ID 17e9:401a Newnham Research
Bus 001 Device 021: ID 1ac7:0001
Bus 001 Device 020: ID 0ac8:c339 Z-Star Microelectronics Corp.
Bus 001 Device 019: ID 058f:6254 Alcor Micro Corp. USB Hub
Bus 001 Device 018: ID 050d:0234 Belkin Components F5U234 USB 2.0 4-Port Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

The second one is the usb touch device.

Thanks for all the good work.
Would it be possibel to get support for touchscreens in this or next kernel version?
7  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Kernel support for touchscreen (Mimo) on: September 10, 2010, 06:51:38 AM
I have a Mimo 740 displaylink monitor attached to a Sheeva and I have, after a lot of frustrations, managed to build (native) and run a Qt/Embedded application using the linux framebuffer. Now I want to use the touchscreen as well. Do I have to compile a custom kernel or is there a module I have to modprobe???

Ok I suspected that. Do I have to get the full kernel source from kernel.org? or do I only need the headers. You must pardon my ignorance, I am a developer but I haven't touched any *nix like os for about 15 years.
9  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: 2.6.30.1 new release on: July 05, 2009, 01:46:47 AM
Pardon if this is a total newbee question, but I don't find info anywhere.
I am trying to build udlfb,
This is the command and response :

magnus@debian:~/udlfb$ make install
make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build SUBDIRS=/home/magnus/udlfb modules_install
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.30.1/build: No such file or directory.  Stop.
make: *** [install] Error 2

I belive I misses the linux-headers, but when I try to : sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

The package is not found.
Help...

Thats good, I was runing mono-2.0-devel. I will try to compile 2.4.2 and try again. Any particular build issues with mono?
11  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: 2.6.30 new release on: June 30, 2009, 07:51:28 AM
When running mono --help all looks normal, when running mono ./hello (a hello world app) it replies:
Segmentation fault
All worked well prior to upgrade.

Having upgraded to 2.6.30, mono doesn't work any more. Is there any features in the kernel left out that causes this?
