in other words for me apt-get is broken with alpha 6

ok trying to get things to boot and run from a SD card

I saw this and was a bit confused as to exactly what to do
Quote
Yes. And you need to untar the rootfs.tar.gz on the SD card with the relevant modules.tar.gz

so instead I followed the instructions on the wiki
Quote
Now copy your existing nand file system onto the sd card. The second cp of /dev is required because the first cp doesn't populate the new /dev directory. The first cp takes 1015 minutes, so relax for a bit.

>cp -ax / /mnt/sdcard # takes 13 minutes
>cp -a /dev /mnt/sdcard

which seemed to work however apt-get isn't working correctly  at first it complained about missing files and directories which I created but now I am getting this

Code:
E: Couldn't configure pre-depend libc6 for findutils, probably a dependency cycle.

which clearly is bad

how exactly do I move the needed files to the sd drive?

And thanks again in advance!

ok i tried doing this

Code:
setenv bootcmd mmcint; nand read.e 0x800000 0x100000 0x400000; bootm 0x800000

and it only saves the mmcint and immediately runs the rest...

ok HOW do I do this ?

the workaround i had by then is adding 'mmcinit' to the bootcmd in u-boot

I also highly recommend this mod http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php to use with SMF. It makes customization of the site very easy.

Just noticed this site is using SMF!

I am currently setting up my SheevaPlug to replace a webnserver running SMF http://www.simplemachines.org/.

Silent and low power are both huge wins for this.

I am using the pre-installed images with no issues

Update

Nginx, php, mysql, vsftp all installed and running fine. I am now adding SMF forum software. I have added a 8Gig SD card and now boot off of it using the instructions found here. http://www.plugcomputer.org/plugwiki/index.php/Frequently_Asked_Questions#How_Can_I_Make_the_Hardware_Do_More.3F

everything is working fine this is sweet
