1  Linux Stuff / General Linux questions / not keeping the date and time anymore on: November 16, 2009, 08:46:46 PM
My plug is no longer keeping the date and time after the last night thunder storm.
After boot is showing Tue Sep 10 16:32:17 PST 1929
Changing the date works fine until the next reboot.

I assume that the RTC got fried or the internal backup battery got drained.
Or is it possible to get wrong info from the NTP servers ?

Thanks,
Corneliu

It worked for me, but when boooting and you have to press a key to get to the u-boot prompt, input didn't work.
After several failed attempts, I tried minicom and it worked perfect.

Thanks,
Corneliu

Regarding the Sangoma USB dongle.
Personally I'd buy 2 Linksys SPA3102 for about the same price ($140 for both) and have 2 FXO and 2 FXS that can be located anywhere in the world (not only directly hooked to the SheevaPlug).

Regards,
Corneliu

PS: I've got my Sheeva last week but, I'm still keeping my astetrisk on the NSLU2  Grin

I saw this device today that makes me more anxious to try:

A simple USB dongle to add to FXO ports. Sangoma has good reputation for quality and open drivers, so the combination of these two might be interesting. Ironically, the device seems to be going for about $139 USD, making it more than the plug itself.
