My plug is no longer keeping the date and time after the last night thunder storm.
After boot is showing Tue Sep 10 16:32:17 PST 1929
Changing the date works fine until the next reboot.

I assume that the RTC got fried or the internal backup battery got drained.
Or is it possible to get wrong info from the NTP servers ?

It worked for me, but when boooting and you have to press a key to get to the u-boot prompt, input didn't work.
After several failed attempts, I tried minicom and it worked perfect.

Regarding the Sangoma USB dongle.
Personally I'd buy 2 Linksys SPA3102 for about the same price ($140 for both) and have 2 FXO and 2 FXS that can be located anywhere in the world (not only directly hooked to the SheevaPlug).
