91  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: I can't load wifi driver on: June 15, 2010, 07:03:46 AM
well this is where my competence stops..

I am also trying to play around with my guruplug trying to update and I keep hitting issues like that or compilation that fails.....I just can't understand it Sad

I got some great help on the freenode irc channel (#openplug) may be you can try there
92  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: I can't load wifi driver on: June 14, 2010, 05:35:38 PM
try to do

Code:
modinfo rt2870sta.ko

the line about vermagic should be the same as the result of:

Code:
uname -a

if it is not that is why is fails

you can verify it by forcing the vermagic

Code:
modprobe --force-vermagic rt2870sta.ko

note that I know this because I ran into similar problem but haven't rally been able to fix it reliably Sad

Code:
tftp 0x6400000 uImage-guruplug.rar

if that is the last command you did before erasing the nand then for use it is not going to work

try to unrar the file and reflash the nand with it!

mikestaszel : thanks a lot for your answer...I might give it a try at some point

I have always wanted to get into Arch but never dared upsetting my family's addiction to Ubuntu Cheesy

As the plug is MINE I can do what I want!

I have a question regarding apps

On the wiki there is a list of application available. Is that the complete list or just an extract for which you have a written guide?

And also is it like the PC version a rolling distribution?

Thanks  Firehawk...

so now we know the uboot on line is different than the one shipped with the plug Smiley

So you just updated and it rebooted with no issue?

Hi,

My Guruplug is secured and I use WPA2 as well. Here is my config

Code:
Guruplug:~# uaputl sys_config
AP settings:
SSID = GuruPlug-Coolbreeze
Basic Rates = 0x82 0x84 0x8b 0x96
Non-Basic Rates = 0xc 0x12 0x18 0x24 0x30 0x48 0x60 0x6c

DTIM period = 1
Tx power = 13 dBm
SSID broadcast = enabled
Preamble type = short
Rx antenna = A
Tx antenna = A
Radio = on
Firmware = handles intra-BSS packets
RTS threshold = 2347
Fragmentation threshold = 2346
Tx data rate = auto
STA ageout timer = 1800
WEP KEY_0 = 00 00 00 00 00
Default WEP Key = 0
WEP KEY_1 = 00 00 00 00 00
WEP KEY_2 = 00 00 00 00 00
WEP KEY_3 = 00 00 00 00 00

and I can connect to it with my laptop..
101  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / U-Boot stuff / Re: Guru Server Plus Uboot upgrade probs. on: June 08, 2010, 07:00:43 AM
Interesting...so you flashed using the latest uboot (from Globalscale I assume?) and you end up with this:

Code:
U-Boot 2009.11-rc1-00602-g28a9c08-dirty (Feb 09 2010 - 18:15:21)

Then somehow you have answered the question I had for the last few days..

My plug is using the uboot that it came with and I have that:

Code:
U-Boot 2009.11-rc1-00602-g28a9c08-dirty (Feb 09 2010 - 18:15:21)

So I will not bother updating mine then Cheesy

I just wish Globalscale would make it clear on their download page

sorry I won't be able to help you but where did you get the u-boot you used?
103  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / Hardware / Re: Eth0 (1GB, no traffic) and heavy IO traffic cause hang/reboot on: June 02, 2010, 05:18:47 PM
Hi,

if you search a bit on the forum you will see that there is indeed a problem when connecting the plug to a Gig interface.

This seem to cause some overheating which in turns reboot the plug

The workaround as far as know for the moment is to use 100M
104  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Strange Boot Happenings on: June 02, 2010, 05:15:38 PM
well it does the trick for me !

do you have connectivity when the ntpdate is run?

I have put it at the end of the rc.local file
105  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Strange Boot Happenings on: June 02, 2010, 10:30:03 AM
In normal PC there is a battery to keep some internal clock runnin when the computer is off

if that battery did then the clock is lost and when you switch the PC the time will be resetted to whatever is its "0" value

in this case most likely the initial date of the plug must be: Sat Jan 1 00:00:00 UTC 2000

in my plug I put an ntpdate in the end of the /etc/rc.local script:
Code:
ntpdate us.pool.ntp.org

and also to have the correct timezone I set up a link for /etc/localtime:
Code:
/etc/localtime -> /usr/share/zoneinfo/Canada/Eastern
